HISTORY

    Primary school Ivo Lola Ribar was founded on December the 21'st 1962.

    In its 40 years long life, many generations of pupils have passed through our school. Our school used to be placed in Vojvodjanska street from 1962-1970. In June of 1970. it had moved to the new building in Monoštorska street where it stayed till today.

At the beginning of it's work, school had only regular 16 classes 4 combined classes.

    Тhere were 565 students and 20 teachers in 1962.Besouse of the lack of space, school used to work in 3 shifts. It's first principal used to be Stevan Vasiljević.

    How hard the beginning was, can say only those who were the students than. The biggest problem was then (and now is) is the lack of appropriate teaching equipment. Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of teachers and pupils, school had many successes from the start.

    In it's long history, our school had educated many pupils, and teachers that worked their job the best they could. Every one of them has left the mark in the schools history.

    It had several principals. Every one of them left a mark on schools history, and made the school better and more beautiful place. Today, the principal is Zoran Borak- for many years schools history teacher and  respectable citizen of Sombor.

There are 960 pupils attending the school today, 71 employees (51 teacher)

    In our school, there is a long tradition of pupils free activities and competitions. The very best results, our pupils have made in sports, singing, mathematics' chemistry, biology, technical science...
